Fresh from her trip to Spain, award-winning Flamenco dancer Maria Osende and co. are transforming The Seahorse Tavern into a traditional style Spanish nightclub. Modelled off of the traditional ‘Flamenco Tablao’ originating from the word “tablados” which means wooden floor stages, the group is offering fiery music and dance to transport you to Osende’s beloved home tradition.
“It feels just like Spain” she says “The Seahorse is an intimate venue and the energy from the dancers and musicians makes the energy so special”.
Joining her to create the magic next Saturday April 7 will be musician Daniel MacNeil, singer Joyce Saunders, violinist Jacques Mindreau and percussionist Ian MacMillan. Annie Fortin will open the show with Audrey Barber and guitarist Mario Charron.
To round out the experience an authentic Spanish Tapas menu will be offered for your enjoyment. Enjoy some sangria and tapas while you look on to Halifax’s premiere Flamenco talents as they summon the heat and passion of Spain through performance.
